Tengu Art Toy

A Mountain Spirit Joins the Parade

High in the mountains, somewhere between legend, spirit and guardian, the tengu has watched Japanese stories unfold for centuries.

Tengu are among the most recognisable supernatural figures in Japanese folklore. Their appearance has changed across time: some early examples were strongly bird-like, while later depictions often show a human-shaped mountain ascetic with a red face and an unmistakably long nose. They have appeared in folktales, religious satire and artworks for hundreds of years.

BigGallery reimagines Tengu as a characterful collectible art toy from the Hundred Demons Parade Series. Rooted in traditional folklore but presented through a contemporary designer-toy form, this figure brings a bold and mysterious presence to a desk, shelf or bookcase.

This is a fixed-design figure, so you will receive the Tengu design shown—there is no blind-box mystery and no chance of receiving another character.

Curator’s Note

Tengu are compelling because they are not easily reduced to either heroes or villains. Across different traditions, they can appear intimidating, proud, mysterious or protective. That ambiguity gives this small figure a surprisingly large presence—like a story that has stepped down from the mountain and quietly taken over the shelf.
